ABOUT ME
Dr. Gabriel Navarrete-Vazquez received the B.S. degree in Chemistry and Pharmacy, the M. Sc. and the Ph.D. degrees in medicinal chemistry from the National University of Mexico (UNAM) in Mexico City. He attended two times to the prestigious course “Residential School on Medicinal Chemistry and biology in drug discovery” in Drew University, N.J. USA. He serves as a full-time Professor of Organic and Medicinal Chemistry in the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos, Cuernavaca, Mexico. He has been a Member of the American Chemical Society, divisions of Medicinal Chemistry and Organic Chemistry, since 2000. He is an editor in 3 journals. His scientific production focuses on the rational design and preparation of bioactive synthetic and natural compounds, the study of their pharmacological actions, and the structure-activity relationships, with more than 135 publications on pubmed and H – index = 34. His research group is interested in the microwave-assisted organic synthesis, in silico PD/PK-ADMET predictions, molecular docking and medicinal chemistry of azaheterocycles with antidiabesity, antihypertensive, antiparasitic, antimycobacterial and antinociceptive activities. He also received several honors and awards such as “National Researcher level 3 (SNI-III)” and "Martín de la Cruz National Award 2021" excelence in Pharmacy and Chemistry. Over the past 19 years, he has mentored more than 80 undergraduate and graduate students including postdoctoral fellows.
